hi october! and filipino folklore

hello october!
two more months and the year will be over... how time flies *sigh* and i'll be a year older huhu

i have a calendar that's got a different saying on each month and i really liked september's saying
it said, "september tries its best to have us forget about summer".... making it sound like september is some sort of a villain when it all wants is to be accepted...
because it falls between summer and fall, it has no sense of belonging
and i would know how that feels

i don't get all surprised now when michelle makes sexual comments but lauren?! first time from her... the people i work with smh... so i hear mr. francis is gonna be working with us in the morning hahaha we'll see if he survives!

just watched a documentary on youtube about filipino folklore by some canadian filmmaker, HighBanksE, specifically the aswang... there were a lot of things i didn't know about the subject i was surprised... i didn't know semen could ward off an aswang LOL
but it was an interesting watch... i learned that the term 'aswang' stems from the words "asin" (salt) and "bawang" (garlic)... typical items to ward off a vampire...
the term was first used as far back as the legend of two different gods living in harmony... there was a god of good, agorang and god of evil, aswang... it is also suggested by the spaniards that when michael and lucifer had that battle, some angels chose to be fence sitters and didn't want to fight for both sides so God sent them down to earth and made them aswangs...

well anyway, back to the two gods, agorang was in control over lightning and mt. mayon's eruption whenever he was displeased with the people... aswang wanted more power and asked agorang to be in control fire... his request was denied but he disappeared and took it anyway... but then aswang lost control of the power and set everything he passed by in flames... agorang knew it was his doing so he prayed to the upper gods to rain continuously to stop the fire, and it did... after that he took revenge on aswang and used lightning and the volcano's fire to punish him and his people... aswang was defeated and agorang took over his land... after the incident people never forgave aswang for the destruction that he had caused so he'd been in hiding ever since... he hid in the jungle, acquiring many forms, a cat, dog, bird, pig, even human

it's so interesting to learn about other cultures, especially your own... i hope to learn more about the filipino folklore but i think i would have to dig deeper because youtube or google doesn't have any of the information... hayy buhay
