Fossil Creek Adventure

Jill and I decided at the last minute to go to Fossil creek without the rest of the gang, which was fine by me. Although they were wanting to go so bad... but oh well.
Woke up at 3am, called Jill... thank God she was awake.
I got to her place I think 20 minutes past 4. We drove in a dark and creepy freeway.
Actually I did, Jill was just snoring away in the passenger's seat.
I'm proud to say that for a two hour drive, I did it in just less than an hour and a half!
Conversations with Jill though <3
Love it!

When we took our exit we saw a sign that said Fossil creek possible closures.
I thought fuck... not again, I drove this far for nothing.
But then God was good and turned out, the place was open even though it was foggy.

We got there at 6am and decided to take pictures of the fog.
It was 60 deg.

The fog trying to blind the sun

But then after we parked the car, we realized it was just us. We saw a few trucks (or as Jill liked to call them "creepy trucks") parked along the way but we didn't see anyone in them. They were probably camping out somewhere.

Beautiful mini waterfall

The water was freezing to the touch!

Admiring the waters

It felt kind of nice that there wasn't anybody else there (coming from an anti-social loner)

I think we played it safe though. We saw a sign saying "Road closed in 3 miles" so we drove up 2 more miles and decided to just stop there. I didn't realize there was going to be more trails up ahead (-_-)
So we ended up hiking two miles huhuhu my poor feet.
And since I refused to pee in their porta potties, I peed in the bushes instead... shhhhh

I carried the bags since I didn't want them to weigh Jill down while hiking. She isn't used to it after all.

Jill enjoying the creek!
I'm just glad she didn't slip while hiking. We climbed up a steep hill and she was already having a hard time as it is.

Oh, paradise

We finally found the waterfall after a mile hike!

It was cold though. We decided to just dip the lower half of our bodies for a while.

Panoramic view of the waterfall

All I can say is that current was strong

I can also proudly say that I did two things on my bucket list today.
One is to get under a waterfall... close enough lol
Yes I do realize my ribs look awful but it was cold and I was trying to keep as much body heat in as possible

Opposite view of the waterfall
I was surprised not a whole lot of people came
But then school already started for some college students har har
I start next week T^T

Jill trying to hold onto the rock, being careful not to get carried away by the current haha

'
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming

I was trying to test the water... I thought I felt the current pull me toward the waterfall, had to check a couple times

We took the scenic/difficult route... we didn't see that there was an easier and faster trail *sigh*
No regrets here though! In fact, I'm glad we took the hard road!

Meditating to calm myself down

And a pose before I take the risk

Second thing off my bucket list... jump off at the top of the waterfall!!!!!

Alright here's an interesting story about my first jump.
I said to myself that before we leave this place, I will jump at least once.
So I go rock climbing again and get to the top.
I see this hippie couple who is just having the time of their life.

It literally took me almost an hour to jump.
I was extremely terrified. I told the couple about my fears (and my lack of confidence in my swimming skills) and they said they would save me if I drowned.
Good enough for me.
But something still held me back.
Dallon (I think the guy's name was) was giving me encouraging words.
Sidney, his girlfriend, kept promising to save my life, which would be good enough for someone... or so you would think.

But not me. I was a stubborn bitch ahah.
Dallon even told me he's a surfer and he used to live in Hawaii but now lives in Oregon.
WHAT MORE QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU NEED BO! GEEZ.

Still.

He was teaching me the relaxing breathing techniques, the Rastafarian beliefs that I am becoming a new person for doing this or something like that.
I could have sworn I smelt alcohol on him.

Anyways, they tried to do a countdown, but I do not do well with pressure.
I think they jumped 2 or 3 times before I did.
During his pep talk, I found it quite amusing when he cupped his hands and said "put your every fear in there and say to it, fuck off dude" HAHAHAHAHA awesome guy.

I really was thinking too much.
He said not to think... easier said than done dude.
Death was already drilled hard in my mind.

I felt bad for Jill though who had to hold up the camera for that long hahaha her arms must be getting so sore... love you Jill!

Anyway, when I saw the couple with their bags and about to leave I thought, man it's either now or never.
I didn't even think. That feeling when you just want your feet to touch the water was overflowing.
When I finally hit the water, I almost shat myself... not even kidding.

Surprisingly the current didn't pull me down or anything like that hahah.
That was definitely one of the scariest moments in my life.

After that we decided to go home.
We hiked yet another two miles but it was worth it.
Since nobody parked around us, we just changed our clothes outside haha nudists ftw!

Jill: I kept signaling you to jump already. The hippie couple was about to leave and there wasn't gonna be anyone else to save you. I would have performed CPR too. Good thing you jumped before they left.

Hahahah one of the best days of my life though.

Thank you God for making all this possible.
